Julie Graves, the competitive bicyclist injured in a paragliding accident last month, has returned to Juneau.
She was discharged from Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, Wash., on Oct. 6, said Harborview spokesman Kristen Foley.
Julie and her husband, Dan, then spent a week and a half at her mother's house near Seattle, "until Julie's final checkup," Dan Graves said Wednesday.
"She is up and around and she can walk," he said. "She is in a body cast until January, but all-in-all, everything went pretty well. It was a relief to have her home."
Julie Graves, 42, fell about 50 feet to the ground in the Mendenhall Valley on Sept. 21 when her glider stalled. She was medevaced to Harborview that evening in serious condition.
She underwent two surgeries. Her back has "a bunch of titanium in there," her husband said, "but they told her that she is so active she can probably handle her own therapy with walking and biking."
