Juneau-Douglas High School wrestling: Juneau hosts Sitka, petersburg, Hoonah, Mount Edgecumbe, Skagway and Pelican in the Halloween Bash, wrestling starts about 5 p.m. at Juneau-Douglas High School.

Saturday, Oct. 28

Juneau-Douglas High School wrestling: Juneau hosts Sitka, petersburg, Hoonah, Mount Edgecumbe, Skagway and Pelican in the Halloween Bash, wrestling starts at 11 a.m. with finals at 6 p.m. at Juneau-Douglas High School.

Juneau Parks and Recreation Saturday hike: An easy five-mile hike round-trip for a beach potluck picnic at Peterson Creek on Douglas Island. Meet at 9:30 a.m. at the cul-de-sac at the end of the North Douglas Highway. Wear waterproof hiking or rubber boots and wear warm layers of clothing. Bring plenty of food and water. Sunday, Oct. 29

Balanced Body Fitness Alaska Conference: Internationally known fitness speaker Gary Kobat presents a life coaching workshop, a lecture on endurance training for the multi-sport athlete and hosts a Spinning (group cycling) orientation Oct. 26-28 at both locations of the Juneau Racquet Club. Warren Miller's annual ski movie, 'Ride:' Eaglecrest Ski and Snowboard School presents Warren Miller's 51st annual film, "Ride," at 5:45 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 26, at Centennial Hall. The film is shown as a fundraiser for the ski school. Tickets are available at the door or at the Eaglecrest business office. Women's Classic Basketball League registration: Registration forms are due by Friday, Oct. 27, for this league designed for women who are older, new to the game or have less time available to play in the upper-level leagues. Preseason practices begin in November and teams play one game a week (Wednesdays) for 10 weeks through January. Fee of $47.25 per player (includes tax) covers part of team fee and numbered shirt. Adult basketball scorekeepers needed: Juneau Parks and Recreation needs scorekeepers for the 2000-2001 Ordway League basketball season, which starts Nov. 12 and runs through the first week of February. Positions are paid. Info: Juneau Parks and Recreation, 586-5226.

Open Gyms

Youth open gyms: Saturdays (10/28) from 8-11 p.m. at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School, and Fridays (10/27) from 8-11 p.m. at Floyd Dryden Middle School. No cost for students grades 5-12. Adult volleyball/basketball open gyms, at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School: Cost is $4. Sundays (10/29 and 11/5) and Fridays (10/27 and 11/3), from 7-9 p.m. Also on Mondays (10/30 and 11/6) from 8-10 p.m. Volleyball/basketball court rentals available Saturday mornings.
