Driving while intoxicated:
Benjamin Bailey, 71, was arrested for drunken driving after driving into a ditch at 4:30 p.m. Thursday near Airport Boulevard. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
Bill James, 25, was arrested for two counts of felony theft at 11:12 a.m. Thursday at the Juneau Police Department. He was lodged at the state prison.
Vandalism and criminal mischief:
Police responded to a report at 3:34 p.m. Thursday near Sherwood Lane that sometime between Oct. 17 and Oct. 25 damage was done to a government agency vehicle. The side vent window of the red pickup tuck was smashed and the glove compartment rifled.
Police cited a man, 26, for failure to maintain a safe distance following an accident at 7:51 a.m. Thursday on the Douglas Bridge. The man, driving a Mercury, struck the back of a Chevrolet driven by a man, 37. The Mercury sustained $500 in damage and the Chevrolet had $3,500 in damage.
A woman, 26, was cited for speeding following an accident at 8:50 a.m. Thursday near Mendenhall River Bridge. The woman, driving a Mazda, struck a Chevrolet school bus driven by a woman, 42. The Mazda sustained $4,000 in damage and the bus sustained $5,000 in damage and had to be towed.
Police cited a girl, 16, for failure to yield after stopping, following a two-vehicle accident at 2:39 p.m. Thursday near Third Street in Douglas. The girl, driving a Subaru, pulled in front of Ford pickup driven by a man, 43. The truck sustained $500 in damage and the Subaru had $2,500 in damage.
A boy, 16, was cited for careless driving following a one-vehicle roll-over accident at 3:35 p.m. Thursday near Fish Creek Road. The Geo he was driving was totaled.
A woman reported at 9:53 a.m. Thursday from Glacier Avenue that her Geo hatchback was hit Wednesday between 9 and 11 p.m. The driver's side door, and the mirror and wheel well were damaged.
Bears were reported Thursday at 8:33 p.m. near Switzer Village Mobile Home Park and today at 2:08 a.m. near Eaglewood Apartments and 5:13 a.m. near Delta Drive.
Police arrested a man, 45, at 11:22 p.m. Thursday near Douglas Highway for failure to register as a sex offender.
