Doubts about election integrity

Letter to the editor

As a Republican, I am offended that our lieutenant governor would appoint an active member of the Republican Party to head the Division of Elections. If we are to have fair and honest elections and not turn into another Ohio or Florida, we must have people leading the Division of Elections who are unbiased. It is evident Mrs. Brewster missed the mark if she thinks she has the "integrity" to lead unbiased elections. Everyone knows once you actively participate in a grass-roots organization, such as the Young Republicans, it is hard not to actively support its cause, to include costing Democrats elections. After all, it was only a few weeks ago that she was still head of the Alaska Young Republicans.

I have my doubts in the fairness of the 2006 elections and hope everyone will keep a close eye on the lieutenant governor's "chosen one."
