Nimbus, the controversial five-ton, $40,000 green metal sculpture, sits forlornly next to a state warehouse after it was uprooted from its location at the Dimond Courthouse. The sculpture first appeared in 1978 and bore heavy criticism from the start. Nimbus was removed from the courthouse in December 1984, per a resolution passed by the Legislature. After resting and rusting quietly out of sight for a few years, it eventually found a less troubled home next to the Alaska State Museum.
