Fire chief reprimanded for engine errand

ANCHORAGE - The fire chief of Anchorage says he has been reprimanded for requesting that a fire truck be dispatched to pick up his daughter from school.

Mark Hall said he reported his actions to the city manager Tuesday and was then reprimanded.

Hall said he called the Jewel Lake fire station captain on Monday and asked for a truck to pick up his daughter from Dimond High School. He apologized to the station crew later that night for taking his request as an order.

He said he did not want to "embarrass the mayor, the city manager or the people that I work with and for."
