Dan Crow to present family concert at Chapel by the Lake

JUNEAU - Family entertainer Dan Crow will present a concert at 6:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, at Chapel by the Lake.

Crow is seen regularly on Nickelodeon and the Learning Channel. He wrote and performed the title song for the film, "The Adventures of Milo and Otis," and he's the star of the Emmy-award winning, "Just for Fun."

Advance tickets are $10 for adults, $6 for children and available at Hearthside Books. Door tickets are $12 for adults, $8 for children.

The show is sponsored by the Association for the Education of Young Children Southeast Alaska, and all proceeds will go the organization.

Crow will also present "Reading, Writing and Rhythm," a workshop for teachers, parents and caregivers, from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 29, at Chapel by the Lake. He will discuss ways to help children improve vocabulary, communication and listening skills.

Registration is $25 for members of AEYC and $35 for non-members.

Eaglecrest to show latest Warren Miller film, 'Higher Ground'

JUNEAU - The Eaglecrest Snowsports School will present the latest Warren Miller film, "Higher Ground," at 5:45 and 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 3, at Centennial Hall.

Tickets are $8 at the door.

"Higher Ground" is touring the United States from October through December, with stops in more than 195 cities.

The scenes include Chugach Powder Guides in Girdwood; helicopter skiing in Blue River, British Columbia; the slopes of Courcheval in the Alpen mountains of France; the Arctic Man competition near Fairbanks; Engen, Switzerland; Copper Mountain; Cordova; Vail; Aspen and Heavenly Valley.

The film stars big-mountain skiers Jeremy Nobis and Seth Morrison; Ski-BASE innovator Shane McConkey; icon Glen Plake and 5-year-old phenom Bridger Gile.

KTOO-FM to feature Halloween stories on Monday

JUNEAU - KTOO-FM will broadcast three hours of Halloween stories from 7-10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 31.

The night will include stories for younger kids by Richard and Judy Dockrey Young, David Holt, and the Folktellers; a murder mystery by the Cape Cod Radio Mystery Theatre; the story of Frankenstein; a reading of "The Black Cat," by Basil Rathbone; and "How To Become a Werewolf," by Vincent Price.

Perseverance Theatre looking for managers, crew

JUNEAU - Perseverance Theatre is looking for assistant stage managers and backstage crew for the remaining shows in the 2005-06 season. Some theatrical experience is preferable, but not required.
