A grand jury indicted a 37-year-old Soldotna man Monday on two counts of sexual assault for an incident that allegedly occurred earlier this month on a boat in Aurora Harbor.
Randy L. Merritt was arrested on Oct. 18, for allegedly sexually assaulting a 27-year-old woman on a boat that morning. He was lodged in the Lemon Creek Correctional Center and is being held on a $20,000 cash bail.
Merritt was indicted Monday on one count of sexual assault in the first degree and one count of sexual assault in the second degree. He faces up to 114 years in prison.
Merritt allegedly arrived on the boat sometime after 3 a.m. and is accused of sexually assaulting a woman on board, according to court documents. The victim said she knew Merritt. Alcohol was a factor, according to the documents.
