ANCHORAGE - Damage is estimated at more than $250,000 in a weekend spree in which vandals shot out windows at businesses and vehicles in Anchorage.

Police are looking for witnesses or evidence to catch the vandals who used a BB or pellet gun.

The Anchorage Daily News reports the repair bill at the Allen & Petersen Cooking and Appliance store will total about $190,000 to replace 19 damaged windows.

Car owners crowded auto glass repair shops on Monday. One Speedy Glass shop manager said it had to order glass from the Lower 48.

One customer, Anchorage lawyer Bill Bittner, said the vandalism should be treated as a major crime.
