I've been amused at the tenor of Cathy Muñoz's campaign for state Senate. Cathy and some of her supporters think that legislators must be at all committee meetings to be effective.
If a legislator hasn't done his or her work before bills get to committee, the bills won't even be heard in committee. Good, effective legislators build relationships of trust and cooperation with colleagues They don't go sit in a legislative audience and simply hope important Juneau issues pop up.
Kim Elton, an experienced legislator, knows this. Apparently Cathy doesn't. We need to go with experience. After all, even though he is Juneau's only senator, Kim steered $56 million in Juneau projects through the Senate, including two university projects, museum land acquisition, roads, harbors and a hew high school tied to the school bond package.
