Police and Fire

Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:

Assaults:

• Police arrested a man, 39, for domestic violence assault at 4:04 a.m. Sunday in the Lemon Creek area. Police believe alcohol was a factor in this incident. The man was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

• Police arrested a man, 49, for misdemeanor assault at 9:06 p.m. Sunday near Hospital Drive. Police believe alcohol was a factor. He was lodged at the state prison and bail was set at $500.

Thefts:

• A multicolored purse containing a digital camera and a wallet was reported stolen at 1:17 p.m. Saturday from Churchill Way.

• A man, 45, was placed under citizen's arrest for theft of services at 9:39 p.m. Sunday near Glacier Highway. Police believe alcohol was a factor. He was lodged at the state prison.

Underage drinking:

• Police cited and released a boy, 17, for underage drinking at 1:02 a.m. Sunday near Mendenhall Loop Road and Auke Lake Way.

Vehicle accidents:

• No one was injured as a result of a one-vehicle accident at 9:34 a.m. Saturday near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek. A Subaru Legacy, driven by a woman, 18, struck the side of a building in the area. The vehicle sustained $1,000 damage to the driver's door.

• A vehicle sustained $1,500 in damage as a result of colliding with a mailbox at noon Saturday near Stephen Richards Memorial Drive. The 16-year-old girl driving the vehicle left a note with the mailbox owners. No one was injured in the accident.

• Police cited a 19-year-old woman for failure to exercise due care to avoid a collision following a two-vehicle accident at 9:10 p.m. Saturday near outbound Egan Drive and the McNugget intersection. A 1994 white Toyota, driven by the woman, struck a 1998 white Honda, driven by a woman, 21. The Toyota sustained between $500 and $1,000 in damage. The Honda sustained $300 in damage.

Animal encounters:

• A bear was struck by a vehicle around 5:47 p.m. Saturday near Engineer's Cutoff Road. The bear ran from the accident in the direction of houses in the area. The vehicle didn't sustain any damage. The State Department of Fish and Game was notified of the incident.

• A bear was reported Sunday at 3:40 a.m. near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek and today at 3:38 a.m. near Glacier Avenue.

Alcohol-related calls: 6.
