Kawee Jarach
Grade: 8
School: Floyd Dryden Middle School
Art of choice: Kawee has been drawing Thai art for eleven years. He enjoys it because it is part of his culture. The flexibility and soft-looking fine details involved in each drawing inspire him.
Keeping it in the family: His oldest brother is an artist too, but Kawee says he "has a different style." His brother likes to paint and carve European art.
Favorite artist: Kawee enjoys the work of Leonardo da Vinci.
Future plans: He plans on doing art forever in hopes of one day becoming a great artist. He'd like to combine his love for art with math and be an engineer.
His teacher, Linda Vallie, says: "Kawee shows a great commitment to drawing skillfully. It's obvious he spends a lot of time on his drawings. He also loved to stay after class and look at art books with me."
Student Artist in the Spotlight is a new weekly feature on the Neighbors page and is in collaboration with the Juneau School District. To have your student art included, contact your school office.
