JUNEAU - Rep. Cathy Muñoz on Tuesday announced she has filed her intent to seek re-election to a second term in the Alaska House of Representatives' fourth district.
Muñoz won the seat, commonly called Juneau's valley seat, in 2006. The district covers the Mendenhall Valley, Auke Bay and Lynn Canal areas.
The Republican is married to Juan Muñoz and is the mother of Matthew and Mercedes. A graduate of JDHS, she holds a bachelor's degree in political science from the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif.
In a press release from her office about the upcoming legislative session, she said she'd work to win support for a new state office building on Juneau's subport property, and to secure support for capital projects, alternative energy funding and K-12 and university funding.
"I will continue to focus on expansion of our regional job base, and the importance of a trained work force to meet the anticipated employment demands in growth industries like mining, technology, oil/gas, construction, trades and health care," Muñoz said in the release.
