Councilwoman in North Pole resigns amid complaints

Posted: Wednesday, October 28, 2009

NORTH POLE - North Pole City Councilwoman Victoria Thompson has resigned.

The Fairbanks Daily News-Miner reported Thompson stepped down to protect the city from potential lawsuits from employees who complained she created a hostile work environment at City Hall.

The council voted Monday to accept the resignation.

In the complaints, employees accused Thompson of making snarky comments, pounding a table and spreading rumors, including that City Hall was bugged.

Thompson denies wrongdoing. The city will take applications for her replacement through Nov. 9.
