Perseverance Theatre's 32nd season continues with "Tuesdays with Morrie" by Mitch Albom, a special production running for one weekend only.
This Cyrano's Theatre Company production, presented by Perseverance Theatre, features performances by Cyrano's Theatre veterans Dick Reichman and Patrick Killoran, with an appearance by Leslie Droubay. Bernie Blaine directs.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" is the autobiographical story of Mitch Albom, a journalist driven solely by his career, and Morrie Schwartz, his former college professor. Sixteen years after graduation, Mitch sees Morrie's appearance on a television news program and learns that his old professor is battling Lou Gehrig's Disease. Mitch and Morrie reunite, and a simple visit turns into a lesson on life for everyone.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" has been adapted to stage by Jeffery Hatcher and Mitch Albom. Hatcher's works include the screenplays "Stage Beauty" and "The Duchess," and the scripts "Three Viewings," and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde," which was nominated for an Edgar Award in 2008. Mitch Albom is a bestselling author, playwright, journalist, and philanthropist, whose works include "Tuesdays with Morrie," "Five People You Meet in Heaven," and "Have a Little Faith." "Tuesdays with Morrie" premiered at New York Stage and Film in Poughkeepsie, New York in 2002.
"Tuesdays with Morrie" runs Nov. 4 to Nov. 7, with performances at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 4, 5, 6, and matinees at 2 p.m., Nov. 6 and 7. While this production is not included in subscription packages, theater subscribers save 10 percent on their "Tuesdays with Morrie" tickets.
