UAS Professor of Political Science Clive Thomas will be this week's Evening at Egan speaker, and will focus on "The Sarah Palin Phenomenon: An Alaska, National and International Perspective." The lecture will begin at 7 p.m. Friday in the Egan Lecture Hall at UAS.
Thomas has been giving talks on the Palin fascination and her role in American politics since 2008, speaking on the topic in eight countries.
His talk at UAS will consider what Sarah Palin's rise to "stardom" reveals about contemporary Alaska and particularly national political views, and the Washington D.C.-Hollywood image of American politics.
Thomas has taught political science at the University of Alaska since 1981. He runs the university's statewide legislative internship program, has published extensively on Alaska politics, state politics, political parties and interest groups, and does political consulting in the United States and abroad.
