Leah Comer Beck died Oct. 23, 2002, at Mount Edgecumbe Hospital in Sitka.
She was born Feb. 15, 1960, in Everett, Wash. She was Raven, of the Kiksadi clan, from the Sun House in Wrangell.
Her family said she will be remembered for her undying love for her son, her love for her family, her friends and their little ones. They said she loved her homeland, Alaska, and especially the beauty of Sitka and of Old Town on south Wrangell Island.
She was preceded in death by her father, Leo Gene Comer, and grandmother Ida Escholt Rose, both originally from Deering, Alaska.
She is survived by her mother, Ethel Lund of Juneau; son Taylor Thomas Beck of Mesa, Ariz.; sister Diane Comer Peterman; brother David Comer; nephews Richard Comer Bradshaw and Michael Hoyt, all of Milwaukie, Ore.; uncle Tom Harto; and godmother Marge Byrd of Wrangell; plus cousins in Wrangell and in Sitka.
A service honoring her memory was held Saturday, Oct. 26, in the Sitka Sheet'ka Kwaan Naa Kahidi tribal house. Her ashes will be taken to Wrangell to rest, the date to be announced. The family can be contacted at: 2400-8 Douglas Hwy., Juneau, AK 99801.
