Eaglecrest accepts scholarship applications

The Eaglecrest Ski Area is now accepting applications for the Hilary Lindh Eaglecrest Season Pass Scholarship Program.

This scholarship program was established in 1992 in recognition of Lindh's silver medal in the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics. Each year the Eaglecrest board of directors awards two season passes to a deserving boy and girl in kindergarten through high school.

Applications are available from the Eaglecrest Business office, Foggy Mountain Shop, Nugget Alaska Outfitter, Rock Dump Climbing Gym, Boarderline as well as elementary, middle school and high school administrative offices. Completed applications must be returned to the Eaglecrest business office by closing on Friday, Nov. 12. Winners will be announced on Monday, Nov. 22. Bring identification on Election Day

The Division of Elections reminds you that the general election is Nov. 2. Regular polling places will be open from 7 a.m. through 8 p.m. on Election Day. If you don't know where to vote, then call the polling place locator at (888) 383-8683 (in Anchorage, call 269-8683).

To prevent voter fraud, election law requires that all voters' identity must be confirmed in the act of voting. Please remember to bring an approved form of identification to the polls when you vote. This includes an official voter registration card, driver's license, state identification card, current and valid photo identification, birth certificate, passport or hunting or fishing license. Voters may also bring an original or a copy of a current utility bill, bank statement, paycheck, government check or other government document with the name and current address of the voter. A voter who cannot exhibit a required form of identification shall be allowed to vote a questioned ballot.
