KODIAK - The latest aerial photographs show just one whale tangled in a Kodiak Island bay.
A biologist and pilot for the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge on Monday reported spotting two whales tangled in one line in Uyak Bay, the long bay that nearly bisects Kodiak.
University of Alaska Fairbanks whale biologist Brianna Witteveen said photographs taken later Monday showed one humpback whale attached to a line and swimming among fin whales.
She said the line is probably attached to a crab pot.
