ANCHORAGE - Sarah Palin took aim at U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkowski as she sought to rally Alaskans for Murkowski's beleagured GOP rival, Joe Miller.
Palin didn't mention Murkowski by name to the hundreds gathered in Anchorage - but it was clear who she meant. In describing Miller's two chief rivals in the race, she said one was an "out of touch liberal" and the other was mayor of Sitka. The latter is Democrat Scott McAdams.
Palin accused Murkowski of slinging dirt at Miller to avoid talking about the issues - and the need to change the status quo in Washington.
Miller has faced a series of campaign hiccups, including the release of records that showed he'd lied about improperly using government computers while working as a borough attorney in 2008. He was disciplined and took responsibility.
