Shooting ourselves in the foot

There is much that I can say about why the Department of Environmental Conservation should not grant Klukwan Inc. a permit to aerial spray pesticides on Long Island, but one thing particularly stands out for me as an Alaskan proud of our fabulous wild fish.

It makes absolutely no sense to spend millions of dollars marketing these incredible fish and then to grant this permit, which will lead to contamination of our streams and rivers and the fish that ply those waters. It's called shooting ourselves in the foot. DEC has no right to risk the economic health of Alaskan fishermen and the health of our wild salmon and their worldwide reputation.
