This Chnook weighed in at 39.75 pounds and was caught by local shore fisherman Linsey Strickland off the rocks in the public fishing area near DIPAC fish hatchery on a Spinner lure June 16.

"The fish was almost lost when it (we) thought that a sea lion had taken it and was dragging it underwater far out into the channel," Strickland said.

But he didn't cut the line and was amazed when the fish jumped out of the water many yards away.

A small crowd of spectators gathered on the beach to watch the fish being landed.
