JUNEAU - The Thunder Mountain Riders 4-H Club is offering beginning horsemanship classes for youth at Swampy Acres indoor riding area Saturday, Nov. 14 and Sunday, Nov. 15.
Classes will include basic horseback riding skills for children ages six to 10 under the supervision Wendy Smith, 4-H project leader. One on one instruction will also be available from experienced 4-H members. Each two-hour session includes 40 minutes of riding, 40 minutes of grooming, saddling, equine education, and 40 minutes of cleaning, feeding, and vet science.
Cost is $75 for the weekend or $50 for either Saturday or Sunday. Various time-slots are available.
The club is working to raise money for equine educational and competitive travel in Alaska and Canada.
