District classified workers deserve break

I have recently read in the paper that the teachers are attempting to receive a 2 percent raise from the Juneau School District. While I think it is okay that they want an increase in their pay, I am left wondering why the backbone of the district, the classified employees, aren't receiving any breaks. From what I can tell from the newspaper, the teachers and the administration are frequently experiencing improvements in their jobs. Meanwhile, the hard-working classified employees that keep the district functioning receive little credit and little thanks. I am not against higher pay for teachers - after all they are doing the difficult job of educating our children and future leaders. However, I think that more attention needs to be given to the background employees that literally pour their blood and sweat into making the district run properly. I personally salute those employees for their dedication and hard work.
