Former Juneau resident Wesley D. Hansen, 84, died Oct. 22, 2003, at his home in Warden, Wash.
He was born Nov. 5, 1918, in Wenatchee, Wash. He was an ordained minister with the Assemblies of God for more than 50 years and retired in Juneau from the State of Alaska. He moved with his wife, Cecilia, to Warden, Wash., where they lived for 12 years.
His family wrote, "Wes was a man who had a genuine love for everyone and saw no fault in any man. His desire was that everyone he came in contact with would see Jesus mirrored by his life and come to know Christ in a personal way. Being from Alaska he loved big game hunting and fishing. There was nothing he loved more than fishing with his children and grandchildren. A comfort his family all had was that 'Dad/Grandpa' prayed for each of them every day."
He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Glessner Hansen, in 1967.
He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Cecilia Hansen of Warden, Wash.; his children, Roberta Compton of Issaquah, Wash., Sharilyn Erickson of Soldotna, Roland and Mary Hansen of Warden, and Renee and Monty Hipp of Washington D.C.; grandchildren Shawna and Jolyn Compton; Larry Jr., Christopher, Levi and Cherise Erickson; Arty, Arland, Avery and Amree Hansen Madsen; and Robert and Ashley Hipp; and great-grandchildren, Adam, Drake and Owen Hansen, Kayleigh and Kindra Hansen, Emily, Michael and Molly Erickson and Jaryn Madsen.
Funeral services were held Oct. 25 at the Warden Assembly of God Church with Rev. Mark Geer and Rev. Monty Hipp officiating. Graveside services followed at Mansfield Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established at Warden Assembly of God Church. Gifts can be sent to P.O. Box 703, Warden, WA 98857.
