Justice comes in many forms, but a governor replacing a U.S. senator is not one of them. My name is Haley Nelson and I go to Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. I am encouraging that you vote "yes" on Ballot Measure No. 4, the Temporary Replacement of a U.S. Senator.
I believe that the governor doesn't have the right to choose the senator, even just until an election is held. The governor of Alaska, of all people, should know that the voice of the people is as old and important as democracy itself, and that it is the people's right to elect their representatives. In fact, the definition of democracy is "run by the people." People have fought and even died for this right. Why should we take away what so many people spent years trying to achieve?
This is why I am supporting Ballot Measure No. 4. It's your choice. Do you want to elect, or let the governor select?
