Governor's arrogance

Letter to the editor

Today, Gov. Frank Murkowski showed his arrogance once again. His actions against Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Tom Irwin silenced any dissension within his cabinet. Yes, sir, this is how we do things in Washington, Alaskans. Dare to raise a legitimate question of propriety, and Frank puts the offending party out in the street.

What should be noticed by all Alaskans is that Irwin's staff also resigned. That in itself demonstrates the legitimacy of Irwin's concerns.

The action by our governor also shows what lengths he was willing to go to sell Alaska out to the oil companies. By negotiating under the Stranded Gas Act when studies demonstrated that our gas is unstranded means the oil companies were getting a far better deal than they should have. When DNR did its job to protect Alaskans' interest, Gov. Murkowski fired the commissioner.

It is time to get rid of this Washington thug and his oil industry "let's rape Alaska again" sycophants. We must return legitimacy to Alaska's state government. Alaska is not the oil companies' whore.

We voted for an all-Alaska gas pipeline, and it is time our voice mattered.

It is time Alaska and Alaskans came first, not last. It is time the oil companies met their obligations to Alaska and Alaskans. They act as if they are doing us a favor by taking our oil and soon, our gas.

Most importantly, it is time we restored integrity to government. Please join me in supporting Sarah Palin for governor.
