Organization Description: Credit Attainment Recovery & Employablility Skills (CARES)is a credit recovery program for current and returning high school students needing credits to graduate. CARES classes are offered beyond the traditional school day. Hours range from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. CARES partners closely with community organizations to provide hands-on, community based learning.

Volunteer Opportunities:

CARES is in need of a kitchen assistant to students, Monday through Thursday, 3-4:30 p.m. The volunteer will assist students in preparing after school snacks or meals for 30-40 students per day. The volunteer should be comfortable working in a time-sensitive environment, work with students offering guidance and direction, help keep a clean kitchen and dining area and have experience or a desire to work with high school-aged students.

CARES is also looking for a homework lab aide. The volunteer would monitor and support students in the homework lab, maintain a quiet and positive learning environment. Tutoring experience and basic computer and organizational skills are preferred.
