Sophia Polasky of Juneau and Christopher Lauer of Waunakee, Wis., were married in a ceremony on July 31, 2010, at the Shrine of St. Therese in Juneau.
The bride is the daughter of Jackie and Tim Polasky. She is a graduate of Juneau-Douglas High School and the College of St. Benedict, and served as an agroforestry volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Ghana. She is currently employed as a social science research assistant at the USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station in Portland, Ore.
The groom is the son of Kathy and Joe Lauer. He is a graduate of Waunakee High School and St. John's University, and served as an agribusiness volunteer with the U.S. Peace Corps in Bolivia. He is currently employed as an associate underwriter by the Standard Insurance Group in Portland.
The maid of honor was the bride's sister, Natasha Flak. Bridesmaids were Veronica Friend, Maria Melambianakis, Suzanne Gorski, Angela Van Den Hemel, Marisa Kelly, and Brady Smith. The best man was the groom's brother, Mark Lauer. Groomsmen were Michael Ryan, John Statz, Michael Paisley, and Jacob Vos. Aileen and Audrey Flak were flower girls, and James and John Polasky were ring bearers.
The couple honeymooned in Wrangell St. Elias National Park, and will make their home in Portland.
