Michael Devoe Fishel

Michael Devoe Fishel, 21, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2010.

Michael was born in Palmer on Aug. 18, 1989. He attended school in Juneau and Utah and was a student at UAS at the time of his death. He touched many people throughout his life participating in many activities such as Juneau Youth Football League, Boy Scout Troop 6, Glacier Swim Club and Junior Symphony.

Michael was a talented musician, gifted singer and actor. He starred in "Pippin" at Juneau-Douglas High School, and "Westside Story" and "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" at Heritage High School. He worked for Era Helicopters three seasons and Breeze In while attending UAS.

Michael is survived by his mother Katy Schmitt of Mill Creek, Wash.; his father Matthew Fishel and wife Sharon of Juneau; his brothers Chad Fishel of Juneau and Kirk Fishel of Phoenix; grandmother Sara Fishel of Iowa and grandfather William Schmitt of Washington, along with an expansive extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Heritage Center Stage - Performing Arts Center, Heritage Schools Inc., 5600 N. Heritage School Drive, Provo, UT, 84604.

Mike touched every person he met and in every life he touched there is a memory, a connection, and a piece of him that remains with us. All will miss him, but he is still with us in our memories. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Monday at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church, 4212 Mendenhall Loop Rd. in Juneau.
