ANCHORAGE - Alaska State Troopers say a North Pole man is facing murder charges after providing a woman with prescription narcotics that caused her to overdose and die.
The Anchorage Daily News reports a Fairbanks grand jury Thursday indicted 19-year-old Justin Powers for second-degree murder, manslaughter and second-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance.
The new charges come more than a month after investigators found 18-year-old Alexandria Anderson dead of a suspected drug overdose at a Fairbanks apartment building. Troopers say she died during the early morning hours of Sept. 13 after taking Fentanyl that Powers gave her.
Powers was arrested the next day and charged with resisting arrest and possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute. He was arrested again Thursday on the additional charges.
