ANCHORAGE - The Anchorage Sheraton has lost its case against the federal agency that overseas labor disputes.
The Anchorage Daily News reports a federal judge has dismissed a federal petition filed by Remington Lodging & Hospitality asking the judge to overrule the National Labor Relations Board.
For more than a year, the Sheraton and the union representing many of the hotel's workers have been embroiled in a dispute over the union workers' work requirements and health insurance benefits.
In its petition, Remington Lodging accused the NLRB of unfairly siding with the union. But federal District Judge Tim Burgess signed an order Thursday dismissing Remington's case, saying that he did not have jurisdiction to intervene.
Burgess notes that Remington had another legal option with the NLRB before it filed suit in federal court. Burgess says the company doesn't like the required procedure.
