... for retreat help

The Healthy Relationships Alaskan Teen Institute Retreat was held Oct. 12-14 with the 10th grade CHOICE students. It was a great time and valuable learning experience for all involved. This retreat and others like it would not be possible if it weren't for the people who volunteer their time and energy. I would like to thank Ann Rausch from AWARE, Ed Linsell from Tongass Community Center, Matthew Turner the Independent Living Program Coordinator for the State of Alaska and Deanna Darnall, a nurse practitioner from the Teen Health Center for wonderful, informative presentations. I would also like to thank Laury Scandling and Lisa Eagen, the CHOICE teachers for putting their efforts into the coordination and planning of our collaborative program. In addition, I would like to thank Kelly Hopson, the JDHS counselor, for her continued support over the years. Thank you to the SAGA AmeriCorps Crew, Jared Shucha, Aaron Brower, Wade Panzich and Jackie Harper for volunteering. We hope to see others from SAGA follow their steps. Other adult facilitators that deserve a great big thank you are Amy Fassold, Leslie Kupper and Ishmael Hope. A very special thank you goes out to the student facilitators, Becky Marshall, Earnest Mouts, Travis Vidic, Sonja McLemore, Amber Flansaas and Chris Lee for all their hard work. A warm thank you goes to the Chapel by the Lake for the generous use of their facilities.

If you would like to volunteer your time at the next ATI Retreat call The National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence at 463-3755 for more information. The biggest thank you goes to the students that participated at this retreat for their cooperation and good positive energy.

... for donating pizza

Floyd Dryden would like to thank Little Caesars at Kmart for donating two large pizzas once a month to the after-school study hall. The students love it.
