In season: King and dungeness crab, halibut, coho salmon (June-Nov.), deer (Aug.-Dec., depending on area), mountain goat (Aug.-Dec., depending on area), wolf (Aug.-April), grouse (Aug.-May), ptarmigan (Aug.-May), ducks, geese, brants, swans, snipe, crane (Sept.-Dec.), moose (in Yakutat through mid-Nov.), coyote (Sept.-April), hare (Sept.-April), brown bear (Sept.-Dec.) and crow (Sept.-mid-Nov.)

Nov. 1: JYC Sailing Squadron, formerly the Juneau Sailing Club, meets, 7:30, at Juneau Yacht Club.

Nov. 1: "Cold Fusion," a Warren Miller skiing film, 5:45 and 8 p.m., Centennial Hall. Tickets at Eaglecrest business office and the door. Presented by Eaglecrest Ski and Snowboard School.

Nov. 1-2: Drop off items for Ski Sale, 5-9 p.m., Centennial Hall.

Nov. 2-6: Alaska Board of Game meeting, Holiday Inn, Anchorage. Discussion includes hunting and trapping in game management units in the Yukon-Kuskokwim Delta area, Nome area, Noatak area, and Arctic Slope area. Issues include fur bearer trapping, hunting seasons and bag limits for brown bear, caribou, moose, musk oxen, Dall sheep, wolf and beaver; hunter education and orientation requirements; unlawful methods of taking big game; exceptions; identified big game prey populations and objectives; salvage of game meat, furs and hides; and controlled use areas. Public hearing at 1 p.m. Nov. 2 or immediately after staff reports.

Nov. 2-4: 5th Annual Sitka Whalefest with educational lectures from biologists and speakers, concert, trade fair, marine tours, and more. Call (907) 747-7964.

Nov. 3: Ski Sale, 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Centennial Hall, sponsored by Juneau Ski Club. $1 admission, 12 and under free. Drop off items 7:30-9:30 a.m.

Nov. 3: State Sport Fish Division strategic planning public meeting, noon-4 p.m., Juneau Yacht Club. Tell officials what you think are important sport fish issues.

Nov. 3-4: Bowhunter's weekend at Oliver Inlet.

Nov. 6: Aurora Australis show, Marie Drake Planetarium, 7 p.m. for younger audiences. Call 586-3034.
