JAHA roundup: Nichols' late tally lifts Ice Dogs to win

Peterson nets a hat trick in the first period to lead Play It Again Sports in Tier A game

Jeff Nichols broke a 3-3 tie with 17 seconds in the final period to lift the Ice Dogs past the Ice Pirates 4-3 last week in a Juneau Adult Hockey Association Tier B showdown at Treadwell Arena.

Greg Stopher had two goals and an assist and Jim Ord added a goal for the Ice Dogs.

Jim Craig made 17 saves in the victory.

Ben White, Tom Schwartz and David Teal all had goals and assists in the third period for the Ice Pirates.

Mario Perez made 10 saves in the loss as the Ice Dogs outshot the Ice Pirates 20-14.


Island Pub 2, Orange 0

Jerry Nankervis stopped all 20 shots he faced as the Island Pub blanked the Orange.

Tod Young and Ian Leary provided the scoring in the Island Pub's victory. Ian Leary, Arnold Liebelt, Chris Mertl and Allen Steffert all chipped in with assists in the win.

Orange goaltender Steve Morrison made 21 saves in defeat.


Play It Again Sports 6, DocWater's 3

Anders Peterson scored a hat trick in the first period and Colin Osterhout netted two goals to lead Play It Again Sports past DocWater's.

Mike Wilmot dished out three assists, Tom Walls had a goal and two assists, Davin Savikko added two assists in the win.

For DocWaters, Rich Morris scored twice and Flip Prior added a goal. Mark Hieronymus assisted two of DocWater's three goals.


Red 2, Yellow 0

Cecile Elliot made 13 saves to preserve the Red's shutout win over the Yellow.

Liz Johnston and Julie Leary scored in the win.

Caroline Morehouse made 12 saves for the Yellow.


Green Eggs and Ham 4, Jaded 1

Jana Linfield scored two goals as Green Eggs and Ham knocked off Jaded.

Cecile Elliot and Tricia Hunter also scored in the win. Chelsea Rohweder and Carolyn Morehouse added assists in the win.

Lisa Ouellette scored Jaded's lone goal off assists from Tami Watts and Stacie Bentley.


C4 5, D.K. Mining 3

Michael Wunderlich posted two goals and an assist to lift C4 past D.K. Mining.

Todd Wimmer also scored two goals and Justine Emerson had a goal and two assists in the win.

For D.K. Mining, Pete Summers, Mike Chambers and Dom Branson all scored. Josh McAdoo, Jason McAdoo, Mason Morriss and Gene Cheeseman added assists.


Air Ex 4, Green 2

Air Ex's Dawn Momblow, Dave Bartlett, Jason Soza and Gail Blundell all scored in a win over the Green.

For the Green, Scott Petsel and Matt Dubois each had a goal and an assist. Chad Dubois also contributed an assist.

Gene Cheeseman made 14 saves in the win while Green goaltender Scott Sell stopped 15 shots.

Grey 4, The Flying Plums 1

Zach Mickelsen broke a 1-1 tie in the second period to lead the Grey past The Flying Plums.

Darren Snyder scored twice, Andrew Parsons added a goal while Steve Lewis and James Harvey contributed assists in the win. Gene Cheeseman stopped 11 shots in the win.

Travis Wells scored the Plums' lone goal off assists from Chad Watts and Eugene Pawlik.

Liam Carnahan turned aside 19 of 23 shots in defeat.
