JUNEAU - The Mendenhall Flying Lions Club will be holding its 14th annual barbecue and auction starting at noon Saturday, Nov. 7, at G.W. Teals, in the Mendenhall Mall, to benefit the Juneau Chapter of the American Diabetes Association.
The barbecue starts at noon, featuring smoked pork ribs, potato salad and beans for a $15 per plate donation. Takeout plates, racks of ribs and sides will also be available. The Lions will serve until the food is gone.
At 6 p.m., the Lions Club will auction items donated by area businesses, artists, and friends. If anyone would like to donate to the auction, please contact Co-Chairs Lion Neil Atkinson at 723-9168 or Lion Chris Cummins at 723-7017. A listing of all items donated can be viewed at www.mendenhallflyinglions.org and a hard copy will be available the day of the auction.
Last year's event raised over $11,000 for the Juneau Chapter. We have raised over $90,000 total in the previous 13 years. We want to make this 14th auction the best to date. We are thankful for the many businesses and individuals who have donated many fantastic items over the years to make this a successful event.
Funds raised helps ADA send kids from Southeast to diabetes camp, conduct health fairs throughout Southeast, and send out family resource guides.
