Driver dies in Anchorage crash

ANCHORAGE - Anchorage police say a driver died and a passenger was injured in single-car crash on the Glenn Highway in east Anchorage.

KTUU-TV reports an officer spotted a car driving outbound on the highway at about 4:15 a.m. Saturday between Bragaw Street and Boniface Parkway. The officer said the car had reached speeds of at least 90 mph.

By the time the officer caught up with the car, it had crashed.

The passenger was ejected and the driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The passenger was taken to the hospital with what police called minor injuries.

Names of the victims have not been released.
