Station disputes allegations about Miller coverage

ANCHORAGE - An Alaska television station is disputing allegations by Senate candidate Joe Miller's campaign that staff discussed creating or making up stories about Miller.

In a statement, KTVA-TV General Manager Jerry Bever authenticated a recording released by Miller's campaign but said it was taken out of context.

He called it the result of a cell phone not being hung up after a call was made to Miller's spokesman and included staff discussing potential "what if" scenarios surrounding a Miller rally Thursday.

He said the allegation that staff would plan to make up stories "absurd."

A transcript from the campaign indicates one person said "chaos" at the rally - like Miller getting punched - could be alerted via Facebook or Twitter.

Sarah Palin, a Miller supporter, claimed a "media plot" against Miller.
