Seems to me that a terrible oversight has been made by the people of Juneau in neglecting to express our collective thanks to outgoing Mayor Dennis Egan for the service he's done our city these past several years.
It's hard to even imagine the amount of time Mayor Egan spent just doing the homework necessary to be informed about the issues that arose during his years in office. This time was in addition to all the hours spent (nearly every night) either in committee meetings or presiding over the assembly, plus performing all the "meet and greet" mayoral duties.
I've been watching the paper for notice of some sort of testimonial thank you reception but haven't seen one so far. Perhaps one is in the planning. Meanwhile, let me be the representative of all of us that recognize, appreciate and thank you, Dennis, for the tremendous amount of time and effort you expended these past years on our behalf in your position as our mayor.
