Organization description: Big Brothers Big Sisters establishes professionally supported one-to-one relationships between Southeast Alaska youth and mature caring volunteers who serve as friends and mentors in our schools and in the community.

Years of service: 28.

Volunteer positions available: Share a little time, make a big difference by volunteering as a Big Brother or Big Sister to a child from 9 to 17 years of age for as little as one hour a week. Male volunteers are especially encouraged to apply. Volunteers are also needed to assist with office projects and special events.

Hours: Year-round and one-time volunteers are needed.

Training: Big Brothers Big Sisters provides training.

Special requirements: A background check and references will be required of all volunteer mentors.

In-kind donations needed: tickets to events, Alaska Airlines frequent flyer miles, Alaskan and Proud receipts, office supplies and laminator.
