University budget tops $849 million

FAIRBANKS - The University of Alaska Board of Regents has approved a budget of nearly $850 million.

The board met Friday in Fairbanks to approve the university system's 2010 fiscal year operating and capital budget. The 2010 operating budget request totaled nearly $850 million while the capital request totaled almost $541 million.

The second highest priority on the capital budget is a biological facility to be based at the university in Fairbanks.

The highest priority is money for existing facilities and renovations.
