Mildred "Millie" Anita (McCullough) Rowland died Oct. 29, 2010 at her home in Wildflower Court in Juneau, surrounded by her family. She was born March 21, 1923 to Archibald and Gladys McCullough.
Millie was born in Lebanon, Kan., where she grew up. As a young woman she moved to California where she met the love of her life, Hugh Rowland. They were married Feb. 14, 1943. After moving to Idaho for a few years, they made their home in Lakewood, Calif. where they raised four children: Ed, Phyllis, Donna and Derrill. After losing Hugh to a heart attack in May of 1986, she remained in their Lakewood home until 2004, when she moved into the assisted living home of Avalon at Cerritos. In October 2008, she moved to Juneau, where she eventually found a very comfortable home in Wildflower Court. Here she loved being involved with Sit and be Fit, crafts, social hour and visiting with friends. Millie also worked out of her own home doing ironing and sewing for others. She found time to take classes and became a great oil and wipe out painter.
Millie was preceded in death by her husband of 43 years, Hugh Rowland.
She is survived by her sisters Ruth Bowmer of Euless, Texas and June Twilleager of Oregon; daughter Phyllis Trivette of Juneau; granddaughters Susan Macaulay of Juneau, Karen (Glen) Ingram of Glendale, Ariz., Jamie Trivette of Anchorage, Lori (Skip) Schenkelof of Los Angeles, and Deanna (Jamie) Rose and Christina Keyes of Tucson, Ariz.; grandson Jay McCrumb of Juneau; and great grandkids Nick, Kylee and Breanna Ingram; (Walter III) Joey and Michijah Schenkel; Katelyn, Zachary and Abygail Rose; and Steve and Veruca McCrumb.
