Knowles unequivocally against Pebble Mine

I am voting for Tony Knowles for governor on Tuesday because he is the obvious choice for anyone who cares about fish and science - two things near and dear to my heart.

Sound off on the important issues at

Of the three leading candidates, Tony is the only one to take a decisive stand against the Pebble Mine, a mega-project of such mind-boggling proportions that it makes your head spin. The enormous open-pit mine will sprawl across the headwaters of the world's most productive salmon fishery in Bristol Bay, will create a toxic 20-square-mile lake and have a tailings dam with walls that are 700 feet tall (higher than the Hoover and Grand Coulee dams) and nine miles long. How can any reasonable person think this won't affect the millions upon millions of salmon that return to this watershed every year? Like Jay Hammond and Ted Stevens, Tony had the guts to stand up and say no to this proposed travesty.
