• JAHA Juneau Jamboree - The Juneau Adult Hockey Association will hold its 3rd annual Juneau Jamboree hockey tournament at Treadwell Arena. The tournament will be a round-robin event for players of all abilities.

Saturday, Nov. 4

• 53rd annual Ski Sale - The 53rd annual Ski Sale will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 4, at Centennial Hall. The sale will include winter sports gear ranging from downhill and cross-country skis to snowboards to poles, boots and clothing. Eaglecrest Ski Area season passes will also be on sale. People with items to sell can check them in at Centennial Hall between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2; 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 3 and 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Saturday. The sale is a joint fundraiser for the Juneau Ski Patrol and Juneau Ski Club. Info: Sean, 789-1224.

• Juneau Ski Club registration - The Juneau Ski Club will be registration athletes ages 7-18 for this winter's Alpine ski racing programs on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Centennial Hall. Information about the Ski Club's Junior and Devo (developmental) racing programs for 10-18 year olds, in addition to the Mighty Mites program for ages 7-12, will be available. Info: Mike, 789-5761.

• HoopTime registration - The HoopTime basketball program is now taking registration for players in grades 5 through 8. The 2007 HoopTime season starts Jan 2. Registrations will be accepted on a first-come, first-served bases. Registration deadline is Nov. 30, late registration ends Dec. 6. Register at the Web site, www.hoop-time.org, and select the link to the registration packet. Mail complete forms to P.O. Box 33606, Juneau, AK, 99803. • Start Smart Basketball Program - The Start Smart Basketball Program is for boys and girls ages 4-5. It helps develop the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. The program focuses on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catch, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. The program is held once a week for six weeks and each week the exercises become increasingly more difficult as the class progresses and the children show improvement. The sessions will be held weekly at a valley site from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m., beginning the week of Jan. 15. Fee is $25 and each child will receive a t-shirt, workbook and participant manual. • Capital City Soccer open soccer - Capital City Soccer will hold adult open soccer days on Saturdays at the Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School gym starting Oct. 14 until Dec. 30. • Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball Registration - Registration for the upcoming Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball season will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 4, at the Nugget Mall and will continue Nov. 6-20 at the Parks and Rec office or at the Zach Gordon Youth Center downtown. Registration are accepted via mail, fax, in person or online at www.juneau.org/parkrec/youth/youthsports.php. There is a $3.10 fee paid to the vendor to register online. • Juneau Parks and Recreation Adult Basketball Scorekeepers needed - Juneau Parks and Recreation is looking for basketball scorekeepers for the 2006-07 Ordway Basketball season. The season is scheduled to begin Nov. 12 and will run through the second week of February. Scorekeepers will be paid. Info: Juneau Parks and Recreation, 586-5226.

• Juneau Parks and Recreation Youth Indoor Soccer registration - Roster spots are still available for indoor soccer players ages 8-18. There are weeknight practices and Saturday games from Sept. 30 to Dec. 9. Info: 586-5226.

• Juneau-Douglas Basketball Officials Association meetings - The Juneau-Douglas Basketball Officials Association meetings will be every Wednesday from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Room C109 at Dzantik'i Heeni Middle School. Interested basketball referees for the adult Ordway City League or high school officiating must attend every Wednesday. Ordway begins play on Nov. 12. • Co-ed Master's Soccer League - The Co-Ed Master's Soccer League is for experienced men and women soccer players over the age of 30. There will be no formal teams and no referees. • Treadwell Arena ice time and activities - The Treadwell Arena opens with ice at 8 a.m. on Sept. 5. The arena will be taking ice rental reservations. • Mt. Jumbo Gym Preschool Open Gym - The Mt. Jumbo Preschool Open Gym starts Sept. 5. This gym is open to the pblic on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to noon for all children ages 1-6. Children must be accompanied and supervised by an adult at a maximum ration of four children to one adult. Play equipment and tumbling mats are provided. There is a $1 per child cost for the program. Punchcards are available at the gym or the Juneau Parks and Recreation office. Cash or chek payment can be made at the gym - no bills over $20 please. Info: 586-5226, Myiia_Whistler@ci.juneau.ak.us.

• Zach Gordon Youth Center climbing wall - Climbing wall hours are 5-7 p.m. on Mondays, and 3:30-7 p.m. on Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays. The climbing wall can be used by people of all ages. Climbers age 20-younger climb free, while adults 21-older pay $5 to use the wall. Youth-adult interaction is encouraged, so an adult climbing with a youth pays no fee. • Evening masters swimming program - The Augustus Brown pool hosts a twice-weekly evening masters swimming program. The program will meet from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and is designed to promote and improve the physical and mental well-being of adults age 19-older. Participants must be able to swim crawlstroke and backstroke. Info: Augustus Brown swim pool, 586-5325.
