ANCHORAGE - Alaska's largest school district has started offering swine flu vaccinations.
About 40 percent of eligible students at four Anchorage elementary schools received vaccinations on Monday.
Mark Mew, the school district's head of security, said only about half the students have returned permission slips from parents.
Some parents say they don't want their children to be vaccinated. The Anchorage Daily News reported the other top reason for not getting vaccinated is that parents don't believe swine flu is that much of a problem.
The district said it plans to administer vaccines at 17 elementary schools this week and at all elementary schools by the end of the month.
