Morris picked to lead First Alaskans Institute

The First Alaskans Institute has announced Denise Morris as its new president and chief executive officer, beginning Dec. 6.

Morris is currently president and CEO of the Alaska Native Justice Center. She is a tribal member of the Aleut Community of Saint Paul Village and a shareholder in Cook Inlet Region and the Aleut Corp. She also serves on the Tribal Victim Assistance and Children's Justice Act Advisory Boards and various other community, state and national boards. She is also a former congressional appointee to the U.S. Department of Justice, Title IX Task Force, Preventing Violence Against Indian and Native Alaskan Women.

"First Alaskans Institute is fortunate to have an individual of Denise's caliber as our next President and CEO," Board Vice Chair Sam Kito Jr. said in a press release. "The organization has tremendous opportunities ahead in which we feel Denise will be a great fit."
