Juneau's Sen. Dennis Egan, who ran unopposed Tuesday for election to the seat in the state Senate to which he was appointed in 2009 is expected to be released from the hospital today.
Egan had successful surgery at Seattle's Virginia Mason Hospital last week after reporting chest discomfort and being sent to Seattle for surgery by doctors in Juneau.
Egan's legislative office staff said Tuesday that Egan expects to stay in Seattle for a few days before returning to Juneau. Doctors there are expected to tell him today how long he needs to remain in Seattle before he's OK to fly home, said Jesse Kiehl, and aide to Egan.
Egan's recovery from the surgery is going well, he said.
