Police and Fire
Juneau police, fire officials and state troopers reported:
Assaults:
• Troopers are investigating reports of a man, 44, accused of walking around Tenakee Springs with a chainsaw threatening people at about 12:25 a.m. Friday. Troopers are considering assault charges.
Thefts:
• A red Nokia cell phone was reported stolen at 4:20 p.m. Saturday near West Willoughby Avenue. The phone was valued at $160.
• A leather wallet and a checkbook were reported stolen from a vehicle at 8:26 p.m. Sunday near Renniger Street. The wallet contained cash and various credit cards.
Vandalism and criminal mischief:
• The driver's side mirror on a Toyota Camry was damaged Friday near Riverside Drive. The vehicle sustained about $200 in damage.
• Damage to the back window of a Ford truck was reported at 12:06 a.m. Sunday from Postal Way.
Animal encounters:
• Bears were reported at 7:48 p.m. Saturday near Glacier Highway in Lemon Creek and at 9:41 p.m. Sunday near Fourth Street and Main Street.
Other:
• Police arrested a man, 33, on an outstanding troopers warrant at 9:53 p.m. Saturday near Thane Road. The man is accused of failure to appear in court, failure to pay fines and failure to comply with the conditions of probation. The original charges against the man were two counts of driving with a revoked, suspended or canceled license; drunken driving, and reckless endangerment. He was lodged at the Lemon Creek Correctional Center.
• A woman, 44, was arrested on an outstanding police warrant at 4:07 p.m. Sunday near Egan Drive. She is accused of failing to appear for a court hearing. The original charge was disorderly conduct. She was lodged at the state prison.
