Juneau’s unofficial youth vote swings for Obama

The polls have just closed, and the official numbers are yet to come in, but the Youth Vote Juneau numbers have been counted.

Barack Obama, who has been announced as the president-elect, also won the unofficial youth vote 1,721 to John McCain's 1,228 votes.

Democratic Senate Candidate Mark Begich won the youth vote by 1,319 to Sen. Ted Stevens' 744 votes.

Democratic U.S. House candidate Ethan Berkowitz won the youth vote over incumbent Rep. Don Young with a vote of 1,466 to 794.

In the District 4 state House race, Republican candidate Cathy Muñoz beat incumbent Democratic Rep. Andrea Doll in the youth vote by a count of 1,065 to 584.

These numbers are not counted in the official vote. Some 3,182 Juneau school students participated in the youth voting project.
