Tailgating drivers cause separate multiple-car traffic accidents Tuesday

Posted: Thursday, November 04, 2010

Separate multiple-car traffic accidents occurred Tuesday evening as vehicles failed to pay attention to their highway counterparts.

The Juneau Police Department responded to a three-car motor vehicle collision on Egan Drive near its "McNugget" intersection with Glacier Highway. There were no injuries and one driver was cited for failing to maintain a safe distance.

While JPD officers were dealing with the incident, two more separate motor vehicle collisions occurred in the same area

The second and third collisions each involved two vehicles. One driver in each crash was cited for failing to maintain a safe distance.

Egan Drive outbound was shut down between Fred Meyer and the McNugget Intersection. The roadway was reopened at about 6:30 p.m.

JPD is reminding drivers to maintain safe distances between their vehicles to avoid collisions, especially when weather conditions become more problematic.
